ABSTRACT
Periarticular and articular nodules can pose a diagnostic challenge to clinicians as well as pathologist and radiologist. It has many differentials from non-neoplastic to neoplastic disorders like rheumatoid nodules, ganglion cysts, pigmented villonodular synovitis, synovial chondromatosis and synovial sarcoma. Gouty tophi are considered as one of differential of these conditions. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of these periarticular nodules is one of the diagnosing tool for gouty tophi on the basis of its characteristic cytomorphological features. Here we are presenting cytomorphological evaluation of gouty tophi in a case of 44-year-old male who presented with multiple joint swelling.
